Aquatic Invasive Species

Aquatic Invasive Species Coordination Committee (AISCC)

The Aquatic Invasive Species Coordination Committee was born in 2022 out of a need for cooperation between local stakeholders, federal and provincial government departments, municipalities and environmental organization watersheds to prevent and control the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS). In addition to significant environmental impacts, AIS have adverse effects on tourism, the economy and industries that depend on the water bodies where they are found.

The main objectives of setting up this committee were to promote the exchange of information and the dissemination of knowledge on the prevention, consequences and control of AIS. The committee would also coordinate the implementation of AIS control activities by the various members, to avoid duplication of effort.
