St. Lawrence Monitoring Sheets
A Thorough Monitoring of the State of the St. Lawrence River
For each indicator, the monitoring sheets summarize the knowledge arising from the State of the St. Lawrence Monitoring Program. These apply to water, biological resources, shorelines, sediment and uses.

The monitoring program for potential swimming sites in the St. Lawrence River, ongoing since 2003, has led to the production of a detailed overview to allow for observation of changes. Bacteriological quality exhibits interannual variability that is now well documented. In 2010, this program was consequently placed on hiatus until the next major improvements are implemented. The program was resumed in 2017 to set up an updated status report before the finalizing of wastewater disinfection works in Montreal and to highlight a clear improvement of the bacteriological quality of the river, as a result of these.
